A one-off special Polaroid tour of the historic industrial park of Barreiro (Parque Industrial Baía do Tejo) with exclusive access to areas not usually open to the public.
Join us at PADA Studios for a short introduction to the history of Polaroid photography from its inception to the present day. This will be followed by a technical introduction to vintage polaroid cameras and a tour of the industrial park where participants will each have their own polaroid camera and a fresh pack of colour film (8 pictures).
The tour is run as part of Mês da Fotografia Barreiro in conjunction with PADA Studios who have recently opened studios and a gallery in the Baía do Tejo Industrial Park.
The Industrial park itself dates back over 100 years when it's founder Alfredo da Silva decided to expand the company CUF from Alcântara in Lisbon over to the city of Barreiro. It comprises now of many factories and buildings in disrepair, many of which ceased to do business in the 1980s but is also home to new businesses and is in the process of an exciting redevelopment which PADA Studios is now part of. The complexion of the park changes daily as it continues to develop so this is a great chance to see it as it is now before more buildings are demolished and/or renovated.
